It's Tuesday and that means it's short-update-madness day for me, for you ... for all of us so to speak.
First on the list of many things: 'Loner's Peak' and it's ongoing series.
During my holiday last month I decided on a couple of things. First of which being the name of the series will be 'Omnivore' for the time being, hopefully only subject to change if a publisher subjects to the name. That being said - I'm still waiting for that one reply to my queries telling me 'Yes this agency is in fact offering you representation for your work.'
Though not all queries have been replied to yet, but the thing to do will be mostlikely sending out another heap of those in the near future.
Second on the list: 'Bloodstained Shadows' - my fan-fiction
I've been going on about this project for a while now and the editing has been going surprisingly slowly until now, but just as expected it took up a lot of speed with part three of the four. And as of right now there is roughly a fifth of the whole text still to be done. Expect that to get finished up soon/-ish.
Third: 'Sleeptalking' - the Victorian horror
Editing run number four, which was originally announced to happen parallel to the editing of 'Bloodstained Shadows' will pick up as soon as I'm done with BS - CoaLS. That should put it on par with Loner's Peak.
Forth: 'The Bamboo Labyrinth' - the short-short short
We be finished as my schedule allows me to... there are a couple of things I need to address myself to that are just simply more important. Take it as unfinished for the time being, although there isn't that much that still has to be added to complete the picture.
Fifth: Project 'Nightingale' and 'Kaleidoscope'
Both of which have been subject to a lot of thinking over the one short week that was my holiday in the U.A.E. Most important thing to note is that there will be a name-swap for the two.
The story formerly know as "Nightingale" will be renamed to 'Heavy Silence' for now (although I'm not completely happy with it yet) and "Kaleidoscope" will be - much to anybody's confusion renamed to 'Nightingale'. Also... the prologue I had posted on this site for 'Nightingale' - now referred to as 'Heavy Silence' is heavily outdated and might as well be re-posted in the future.
And last but not least - a short scribble from my notebook taken from the notes to 'Heavy Silence' so you see I haven't solely been sitting at the beach or pool the whole time (which in fact I did :s) :
*~*
'My name? You'll find it to be utterly pointless but if you so desire to know...
Michael - it's the mashed potatoes of name seeking: no matter how you turn it or try to spice it up, it never changes. Helplessly bland, boring and not even the shot of milk, or in my case whisky, added anything to the mix.'
*~*
No offense to the Michael's of this world btw... it's not my opinion but that of the main character.
Aaaaand there you go... Short-update-madness successfully uploaded. Enjoy the overload of information.
As always thanks for reading and have a great week.
Marc, now quickly back to editing again - maybe I'll get that part done today. (Editz: Yays... only one part left to go!)
Welcome everybody as I explore the vast worlds trapped within my own imagination, ranging from the darkest corners of this earth up to bright and sunny fields of joy... and such. Also, as promissed, random kittens now and then!

[SUM] - I'm really starting to hate that word...
Good evening if you're from Europe, good afternoon and/or good morning to any international reader.
I just got done with my little workout routine for the day so I'm good to go on possibly just falling asleep as I'm typing this. Hopefully feeling like this after the workout will ease up sometime soon.
Anyways, it's Tuesday and here I am, giving you what I promised to you. I hope the new year has gone easy on you during these first three days and everything's fine.
The word in question is without a doubt 'synopsis' - contrary to writing a query letter - which finds itself between quite challenging and actual fun whilst playing around with the first couple of sentences (despite the somewhat harrowing nature it takes on in later stages) writing a synopsis is something I personally ... well, hate - to put it this blunt. Something in my mind just doesn't like distilling those roughly 100 pages of work in font size 10 down to four, three or even better, 2 pages of nothing but information and names (keep in mind - a frequent tip I used to get concerning the query is to try and keep the style of the novel ... now have fun with that on two pages).
But... no matter how much you start nagging and cursing about it, it's always something you have to do... no way around it, so just bite the bullet and get on working. And that's precisely what I did during these first few days of the year. I'm quite happy with the outcome so far and it should serve its purpose sufficiently without doubt. Only thing now to hope for is that there are agents out there who think the same way.
Let's go conquer a world! May the query-ing being!
... Yeah, I had to butcher that word.
No excerpts for the moment. I highly doubt you want to read any of the spoiler ridden synopsis right now. Though I might publish any 'rescoursses' affiliated to 'Loner's Peak' at some point in time IF they should prove successful. But that's still a good bit of time ahead of ourselves.
As always, thanks for reading!
Marc, apparently an 'Omega-deadbeat'

[RBS] - Green Stuff everywhere!
...at least when I turn my head to the right.
Those lights... It really is pathetically easy to make me happy if you know how...
Anyways, I've been taking my old warlock out, giving him a spin for a change as the weekend slowly but surely comes to a close here in Germany. But I'm well aware that you aren't necessarily interested in knowing precisely how I wasted my time during the last couple of days so I'll keep it to a minimum on that account.
And I'm well aware that I'm currently not posting too many updates on actual stuff I'm working on. That's because, as I've mentioned already, there isn't much to talk about. Loner's Peak reached the stage where I can do hardly anything but play a waiting game on, believe me, several different levels. Yet that's how the world apparently rolls with these kinds of things.
And Fool's Flight is mainly about gathering and sorting out plot elements in my head and offline-notes at the moment and even that is going rather... slow. I've reached a point where my head starts spewing out 'critical errors' when I rethink a few things, because I want to go too deep into matter that I, well, don't really understand at the moment. And writing stuff you don't know about? It's not too uncommon when you think about most Sci-Fi or Fantasy stuff and is usually solved by putting up your own rules for the world you're creating, but yeah... seems I'm not totally happy with those rules right now. And for all our sakes... I'd be better if I take the time and do it properly and be satisfied with the results.
Maybe the upcoming change of scenery will help me out on those accounts as in a week from now, I'll be posting my Sunday update from my mom's place back in good ol' Saxony. Meeting the newest addition to the family... our new little kitty-cat. I'll upload a picture of the young mistress, promise.
Besides, I wanted to use the week before Christmas to get some work done anyhow.
But until then, there's still some time to use wisely (a.k.a. waste) and get a few things sorted out. Like getting a new passport... or putting up the pin board I got presented with yesterday.
So as always, thanks for staying around, listening to my ramblings. Enjoy your third of advent or just the weekend in general, light a candle or something like that.

[SUM] - Man's not really supposed to be flying
What sounds like a campaign against larger flight companies or well... flying in general is but a little hint on what I'll be working on as the year slowly draws to an end.
Anyways... the Skyrim mania slowly leaves my mind and body behind... after completing the main quest, reaching level 52 (of 81) with my main character and forging a weapon, something nice and to my liking, suiting myself better than those pitiful presents the daedric princes left me with.
But now I feel the urge to focus on a few, well..., more important things again... But it sure was a hell of a time! I so love the snow storms in that game.
But back to what I wanted to talk about... I'm currently trying to get into 'Fool's Flight' at the moment. Just got done writing my prologue for it, or well... the thingy that I want to call prologue. Let's just say it's not your average opening for a story, though I'm pretty sure somebody, sometime, somewhere already did a thing like that... After all, it's always like that. Or well, at least most of the time.
I also edited a few things on the first 5 'intervals' that I already wrote during my summer holiday, giving them a nice little overhaul.
For clarification means - an interval in this story will basically be what you'd normally call a 'chapter', but then again not really.
I can tell you this much: there will most likely be 14 intervals all together (plus one prologue and maybe something similar to an epilogue) and one interval is - you surely guessed it - a means of measuring a certain amount of time that passes/has passed.
I'll try to loosen the whole chapter concept up a bit after the straight forward 20 chapters plus the prologue of Loner's Peak. Yeah... I'm full of wonky ideas like that.
But for now... you should just look at them as chapters, though their length should vary considerably. As time and my work on this project progresses I will probably come back to this and clarify a few things concerning the whole topic.
Come to think of it. Loner's Peak will not have what you'd call an Epilogue (I'm not sure if I ever referred to it as that), despite my personal cravings for such things... BUT I plan on having a little tidbit at the end, a one-page thingy giving a bit of additional inside... for those able to read it. It's nothing mandatory and won't give any info on stuff you don't get from just reading the story but I think it's a nice addition to it.
I'll try to get something of a page up for Fool's Flight during the next week or so, or... come to think of it. There already is a link to said page at the very end of the Loner's Peak page... feel free to check that out - but don't expect too much just now. But it should at least make clear why I chose this headline.
The writing-stuff commences once more.
And just to have it said at least once. I'm not sure what I'll post of the things I've written so far, if anything at all (at least right now)... It's kinda hard not to spoil anything, it being the second part of the series and all. Though I'm rather sure I'll find something.
But that's all for today... Now I got to rest a bit as I'm feeling like something's growing on me. I don't really want to be sick so... yeah... better take it slow for a day or two. Maybe drink a whisky or something like that.
As always, thanks for reading.

[SUM] So... many... prompts...
Greetings ghouls and ghasts for another episode of 'How not to welcome your readers'. Bleugh!
I admit the joke was lame, but it did what it was supposed to so yeah... just.. ignore it, I guess?
Anyways I just got home from a lovely two-hour long walk (similar to yesterday), enjoying the fall, autumn or whatever you want to call it as much as possible, trying admittedly a bit desperately to ignore the cold and mist currently going on in Bremen. Yesterday it had me thinking whether I stumbled upon Silent Hill by accident and what I might have done to deserve that.
Aside from me walking around outside without no real aim or purpose, I finished a first "test-query" as I like to call it for Loner's Peak and got a bit deeper into the whole subject of finding a name for the whole trilogy thing. I first got caught up on "carnivore" for a while and then switched over to "omnivore" as it fits the whole thing rather nicely on various different levels.
Yet currently I'm annoying a couple of people whether or not a few of the pseudo-latin word combinations I came up with are legit or not. I wouldn't want to use stuff that is essentially incorrect.
(I kinda liked "omnivoras" judging solely from the sound of the word, but Portuguese doesn't really fit my whole plan and stuff.)
What I also delved into over the last 24 hours is this little list of prompts published origionally on the twitter account of Donald Maass, literary agent and author of various books that are aimed at helping new writers to get published. The list is currently made up of 58 of these more or less small 'tasks', all trying to get you to rethink parts of the story you are writing and hopefully add some more depth to it. A new one is added on a weekly basis.
In other words, I've been checking Loner's Peak keeping these prompts in mind with mixed results so far. There are a few ones that are just impossible to realize with the way the story is set up (having two main characters doesn't make any easier either), others are looking farely well done (concerning my work-in-progress) and a few ones... well... let's just say they gave me a few ideas I think I still have to implement one way or the other.
In any case it's something I'd recommend to check out for anybody who wants to write a story for the first time. The key is, as always, not to follow blindly the leads that are given to you but to evaluate. Yet essentially it's a great collection of things that really let you think through the stuff you already came up with on your own, enhancing the universe you (re)created by a fair bit.
I, for my part, already saved those prompts that are published on said site in an extra file as a resource for anything I'll come up with and write in the future. It definitely helped me with smoothing out a couple of rough edges of my story so far.
Also, as of yesterday I started moving a few sites around on this blog, which could lead to a couple of broken likes to the page for 'Loner's Peak' in older posts. I can safely say that any new ones won't be affected. And all in all it's only the site for Loner's Peak that got a new, more sensible address.
I already tried to correct as many of the old links as possible yesterday evening, but I can't tell for sure whether I caught all of them or not. Anyways... you have been warned and/or informed.
But I guess this should be enough for one day's worth.
As always thanks for reading and stopping by.

[RBS] - Dire Forgetfulness
Fortunately for me, I may be forgetful at times, but usually not when it would really matter. Anyways hello fine ladies and gents and welcome to another Sunday full of extravagance, or well.. not so much.
In any case you are now here and will read on for the next five minutes (if it even takes you so long).
As usually I'd like to diverge from the every-day topics of this blog and turn to something a bit different. Again, fortunately, yet this time for you... this won't take up too much of your spare time. Yep... you guessed it... I'm just messing with you! Hurrah!
What would there be to talk about this week? Saying the phrase "nothing much" seems to turn into a habit, probably more bad than good of sorts, anyway... nothing much. At least alongside to the common affairs of Marc, Lord of Edinburgh. Most days of this week were devoted to further editing on 'Loner's Peak', adding roughtly another 3.000 words to the lot, despite all the cutting-sentenses that was also going on alongside.
I'm quite happy with how it turned out and I'm definitely drawing closer to a somewhat final version of my text.
Speaking of editing, I've been wasting a few thoughts on maybe wanting to do some re-editing on my 'old' World of Warcraft Fan-Fiction. There are still a couple (not to say a lot) little (and not so little) mistakes scattered throughout the text and a few of them start hurting my eyes when I spot those online. I REALLY should get around to clearing those out for good... But I also shouldn't get sidetracked too much right now.
'The Bamboo Labyrinth' has reached a stage which I would call good for inital release on the site. The end of it is still missing, but as it won't go up in one go that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
And concerning the upcoming week - if I shouldn't get my "better" pc returned to me by... let's say Wednesday, I'll probably start looking into re-writing the the first few pages I already had for Fool's Flight, getting the whole thing synced once the other machine is back home...
Aside from all the actual writy-writing - I'm currently thinking about reorganizing a few things on the blog. I've been playing around with a couple of the pages for a bit and I've developed a few ideas I'd love to use on the site.
Right now my private life is still pretty cat-less and lame to be honest. No super cool things planned up ahead or mega-awesome jobs of me clouded past. Nope... nothing like that. At least not yet...
Instead I watched Day[9] freaking out whilst playing 'Amnesia, the Dark Descent' Monday and Wednesday night (or yeah... the days afterwards actually - I'm not the kind of guy to stay up till 4 in the morning for stuff like that) and got on board of the Skyrim hype over the last few days. Getting nerdier with each day as time progresses... but I'm trying to counter-act with at least some fitness training. Let's hope it's not in vain as next week it's MLG time. (Weeh?) Oh, I'm such a sucker for events like that...
I'd still prefer any kind of (Beach-)Volleyball championships over it anytime but... yeah.. still no TV.
And for any of you who might be interessted in why I'm always going on about Volleyball (which shouldn't be too many people)... it's the only type of sport I've ever been good enough at to actually win a school-medal for. And I'm still proud of that... so yeah... that's just how pathetic it gets. No, but really... It's the sport I alway enjoyed the most durng my time still in school and I eventually came to be quite good at it.
Wow... I've been going on for ages here... got carried away a bit it seems. Ah never mind. I'll leave it at that. I origionally wanted to say a few things about Amnesia, the Dark Descent (headline *HINT HINT*) but it would be better to experience that kind of game at first hand anyhow... What I will say is that it's a horror title created by the guys over at Frictional Games (check out the 'Random'-page for a link) as it's name rightfully suggests and it's mostly known for being kind of ruthless. The game... the experience... the scares. It really is a one of a kind game, deserving all the praise it currently gets and by far more. One of the best story-focussed games out there, if you'd ask me that is.
But before fully drifting off course again. I'll give you one last link, some nice music from a different game I mentioned on this blog a good while ago and I'm off...
Enjoy your evening and as always thanks for reading and stopping by!

[ST] - Butterflies and Bumblebees
A perfect headline for a day in November... when all the little insects are outside on their way from flower to flower and... oh... uhm... never mind.
I'm not done with the whole Bamboo thingy yet, as I've yet againg got overwhelmed by my own personal longings to get Loner's Peak done and started the second phase of editing a bit sooner than originally planned. So during the last two days I've been occupied with trying to smooth out some of the rougher edges that the story still had. And I'm quite confident that it won't be before too long that the storyline of Jonathan Mortinson is done, so I can move on to the parts of Thomas Mitchell. In any case you could just say I've been doing stuff.
For today, the flash fiction I want to present to you is a bit... awkward. It's somewhat of a stylized story for children with a save-the-environment background to it. I mentioned it aaaages ago on the site and I think the only thing I actually said about it was that Beni had approved of it.
Just don't take it too seriously.
Anyways, enjoy!

Well hello there! How nice of you to join us.
Who I mean with "us" you want to know? Well, can’t you see her? Oh yes I know, she is a bit tiny, but please do not tell I said that about her. Look! She is right over here, my good friend Camilla, the beautiful butterfly.
She really is enjoying this lovely day to the fullest. She has been outside playfully flying around ever since the sun came up! She really had a lot of fun today!
I hope she didn’t fly too fast. That really must have been exhausting!
So Camilla has to sit down for short moment. How about over there, on that small flower? Oh do not be silly, she is not that heavy. She is merely a small butterfly after all!
It has been a really warm day until now. The sun has been happily shining brightly down from the sky with a wide smile on her yellow face.
Oh! Who is that behind that flower over there! Ah! It is Bertha, the bumblebee! How good to see you too! She is a good friend of Camilla and I guess she is also happy to see her butterfly friend too.
But poor little Bertha does not have as much luck as Camilla has. She had to work all day long. She was collecting nectar from the colourful flowers all around us on the lush meadow. So Bertha must also have had a really exhausting day too! But she is not only tired it seems! What is wrong Bertha? Why do you look so sad?
‘Oh’ the cute little bumblebee says in a low voice, ‘I am sad because of my home meadow. It is all gone! It simply vanished this morning just after I got up.’
'How mean! What had happened Bertha?' Camilla also wants to know why her friend is so sad. So that maybe we can cheer her up again!
‘They are building a new motorway over there! But it was such nice meadow. All my neighbours were so friendly. Emma the Mouse, Charlie the mole and even my distant cousin Edna the wasp from the nearest forest, they all had to suddenly move away this morning! And all this happened just because those humans wanted to build another one of their noisy and dirty roads. I don’t think they needed any more, if you ask me, but I’m just a tiny bumblebee without a car. I’m just happy you did not have to move away too, Camilla!’
Camilla sees how sad Bertha looks down to the ground. 'Humans sure are mean sometimes! But you can stay with me, if you want to!’ Camilla says quickly. And you can already see how small Bertha is already lightening up a bit again.
‘It’s maybe not as great as your old home, but I’m sure we will have lots of fun!’
But unfortunately this all the time we got here on the meadow. I'm afraid we have to leave those two already. I'm sure they will be fine!
Bye now Camilla! Bye Bertha!

Another week down, another week closer to Christmas.
As for next Friday - just as announced: I'll put the first installment of The Bamboo Labyrinth up on to the site. And I'll be giving you a few more details on the whole topic in the said post as well, how it'll all work etc pp. So you get a better idea of what I'm planning.
I think I shall leave it at that for now and get back to editing. The sooner it's done, the sooner it's over with. Writing the story and coming up with it in general is a lot of fun if you ask me - but the other parts are a bit tedious from time to time.
Anyways... as always thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this weeks piece of flash-fiction I threw at you.
Marc, the one who's pretty much high on energy drinks and caffeine right now.. weeeeeeee
P.S.: I'll see what I can do to get a new kitteh up.
P.P.S.: Kitteh upz.
Seemingly unrelated songquote of the day:
"If we don't kill ourselves we'll be the leaders of a messed up generation. If we don't kid ourselves, will they believe us the reasons when we tell them why?"

[ST] - Getting something done... feeling good.
So yeah, this post should actually be more about another chunk of loose text that I throw at you and get you to read it, but I'd rather share something else with you today.
It's a feeling... a feeling of utter happiness and joy that I currently still cherish. Because as of Wednesday 2nd of November I finally got done with Loner's Peak! (As predicted. Also, I made some slight adjustments to its respective page on the blog during the day.)
Well..., for now at least... And this is when all the waiting starts off again. Getting some opinions before the next wave of editing sweeps over the text and so on. All that jazz right before writing the queries, so that the next waiting bit can go on its way.
Sounds thrilling, doesn't it?
Yep... Not really... although to be honest, not knowing when something is starting to go back on track and most of all the waiting that comes when the bit with the agencies starts off again is kinda nerve-wracking from time to time. But fear not... I will keep myself ocupied during the time Loner's Peak is somewhat on hold.
For the time being, I will focus my attention on a short story I've been thinking about for a while now during the upcoming week. This project will probably find its way onto the blog and into the world via this here Storytime segment at some point. I won't be giving away any kind of spoilers for it, but expect it to be going to be uploaded in several small parts, so it'll most likely be up on a one part per week basis once it's done. I can't really tell when the first of those is going to be uploaded yet, but middle to end of the month should be a rather safe bet. Anyways look forward to that if for some reason you don't like flash fiction with all its suddenness and short-ish shortnessy shortness (or you just think I can't write that stuff for s....).
After that I will start getting involved with the second part of the _______* - Trilogy (*insert name here).
Current working title for this part of the bigger project, the second part, is 'Fool's Flight',to have mentioned it once again.
I might start the real writing on that part of the story right away, or at least a lot sooner than with Loner's Peak, as I've got a better and more detailed idea on how that part should generally all go down than with the other two.
All that blubbering about plans aside I conclude... I'm feeling good today, a bit restless though. Didn't do much today, enjoyed my 2nd day "off". But I'll get back into it tomorrow.
Preparing some bamboo for y'all...
But ... today is Friday after all... so I'll have to give you something more or less sensible to read nevertheless. Just as you thought you'd managed to get around it ... hrhr.

What a night...
My brain is all fuzzy and my memories all seem washed-out. And if I try to remember something from yesterday I can’t fully recall what of it was dream and what reality.
It’s a complete mess, a pulp of lights, music and shouting.
All I can say for sure is that right now I’m lying in a white bed in a hospital somewhere down central, with my whole body aching like all hell broke loose an hour ago.
A white coat had already visited me once or twice. He had said a few things I didn’t quite catch. He was talking to a nurse about how severely I might have been poisoned from the stuff in the pills I had swallowed. Nobody really knows.
Damn it... what happened last night?
The harder I try to think about it, the more my head hurts.
I still know how my friends and I were talking about starting the party. I had all the small pills right in the palm of my hand. All of them had different colours, just like placebos but with an effect.
As the alcohol was already running through my veins I started imagining things... My addiction was kicking in. By now I can tell for sure that once I see things move, breathe or even hear how they talk to me, I know it’s time for my ‘medicine’ and it’s not fun at all. The blue pill was looking at me. I imagined a smiling face on its outside. Come on, it whispered to me, I should do it. I should get it over with. It said that it knew how much I wanted to.
My hands were already starting to shake wildly, but my friends were only looking at me angrily. One of them yelled at me over the music. I should be getting done he screamed and that he wanted me to pass a few of the pills to them. They didn’t even notice how I almost started flailing around aimlessly.
The blue little thing was still staring at me. It called me ‘Jackie-boy’ as it tried to persuade me again to get on with it.
I couldn’t take it any longer. I couldn’t bear the voice anymore.
With a quick movement I just chucked the hand full of pills down into my body. It was more an act of desperation than anything else! Swallowing was difficult, but not nearly as hard as trying to gather these memories.
I swear I still could hear them thanking me as they made their way into my stomach.
Immediately my friends started cursing and I think one of them punched me straight into the face. That would at least offer a reason for my right eye hurting this much.
And now I’m lying here, completely drained out and probably poisoned.
But what really worries me the most right now is that smiling face on wall opposite of me...
*~*
There you go, another Friday done, another week almost over with. In any case I hope you enjoyed this weeks piece of Flash-Fiction (FLASH! AHAAAA!) and that you have a great weekend!
As always thanks for reading.

[SUM] - 3,4Methylenedioxymethamphetamine
... also known as:
(RS)-1-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol(-5-yl)-N-methylpropan-2-amine
That's your lesson of chemistry for today... class dismissed.
This is some (mostly) pointless knowledge I carry around with me for about half a year now and you never know when you might need it... in a bar or club, the nearest hospital or police departement... all depends only on you and maybe your profession.
As in the spirit of most Tuesdays I will try to keep it short and the ramblings to a minimum!
What have I been up to? Well... I've been productive. Productive to a degree that I can safely say... I'll get done with 'Loner's Peak' by tomorrow. Yes! You read it right! Tomorrow! Yays!
Which means as much as... the editing can start afterwards. *sigh*
For the moment there are only two more things still missing: the final chapter itself and a brief epilogue - which in fact will be no real epilogue (as it's only part one of the series) but more a hint on the story of part II 'Fool's Flight'.
Would be nice to get my other laptop back soon... Would make things from here on out a lot easier.
For the excerpt of today - enjoy (it's another short one - taken from Chapter 19 of 20):
*~*
This is not the time for rationality anymore... it would only be in my way... hindering me from achieving what has turned to be of importance now.
I never felt like this before. My whole body is trembling. I can't tell anymore whether it's because of fear, the rage I feel deep inside or remorse already creeping up on me. In.. in any way I can't step back now.
*~*
Yay for crazy talk!
And I can't wait to get onto the last lines of Richard Jameston in this story... Heck... I can't wait to get it done all in all! But not today... it wouldn't be as good. I already spent most of the last 7 hours on writing and editing today, with brief breaks in between.
As always, thanks for reading!
Marc, the Excited
P.S.: I'll try to get a new kitteh up over the course of the evening... haven't done so in a while.
P.P.S.: Kitteh up

[SUM] An interwebz made of jelly
Wouldn't it be a strange thing to imagine? As if imagining something as untangible as this wasn't hard enough to begin with, but it being made of jelly too? Go ahead, try - it's fun... hrhr. And... mhm... jelly-internet... somebody get EMT on the job!
Anyways... the reason for my blabbering are the constant connection problems I had today - yay for providers. (Chances are I'll lose mah interwebz at least once while typing this blogpost... anything less would surprise me.) As far as I can see my router is trying to d/l an update for its system that was played onto the servers last night but it usually only kills my connection and starts flashing in a nice bright red, telling me the d/l server didn't want to share his secrets. Gonna be a fun afternoon/evening I guess...
For a good side-effect, the loss of internet brought me to do a lot more writing than I had originally intended on doing today, because I'm still tired from yesterday evening.
But I'll keep the ramblings to a minimum today as I never know when I'll get thrown out of the web again...
Here you go:
*~*
As a matter of fact - I've got big-time company backing me up. A whole squad is fitting into the cramped space next to me, just like in the days. Almost makes me feel special and even a bit homesick I think for myself whilst barely hiding away a sleazy grin from my face.
Now that's something that didn't happen for quite a while, I believe.
*~*
It's just a short one for today. The story is heating up and as I've already explained a while back, I don't want to spoil too much of it.
And I still don't know how my other laptop's doing... He's on holiday without me and doesn't even write a postcard back home. :<
As always thanks for reading and have a great Tuesday!
Marc, the Haunted... haunted? by what you ask? This.. yeah...
EDT.: And I did lose connection just before getting done... Go Foresight, GO

[SUM] All scheduled up!
Well hello there everybody and welcome to the first post of October and with the new month also the new 'system' I try to get running for this blog.
You see the thing I did with the title? Yeah, I guess you did. I'm trying to indicate that this here post is a 'Short-Update-Madness' post - hence SUM as an abbreviation before the actual title I chose.
Some of you might be asking yourself right now, why I'm trying to commit to such shenanigans all of a sudden. Well the answer to that is quite simple as it stands right now:
The blog is now up and running for nearly half a year and in all honesty, a schedule for the updates of this blog would not necessarily be needed at the time being, even if it somewhat pains me to admit that. (But we all know that the first (few) year(s) is(/are) always the hardest!) Yet on the other hand it is a great way of getting the updates more frequently onto the site, plus they offer a kind of topic differentiation on top of that. And that is just what I want to achieve.
To give you a general idea of my plans for the future, in other words the schedule:
Monday ---
Tuesday 'Short-Update-Madness'
Wednesday 'Beni's Kitchen' (every 3 to 4 weeks)
Thursday ---
Friday 'Storytime'
Saturday ---
Sunday 'Random Bloggy Stuff'
The next thing to ask and wonder is of course what to expect from the various topics.
'Short-Update-Madness' will include - as the name hints on - short updates on what I'm currently working on, planning to do concerning my stories as well as this here blog - therefore this post fits perfectly into my plan.
'Beni' Kitchen' which will supposedly sneak its way onto the site every three to four weeks - contents completely up to the bear (yet this 'column' will not start directly tomorrow).
'Storytime' is going to be something special for you guys and girls reading my blog... at least I hope so. Which means starting this week I plan on uploading one Flash-Fiction with a length of approximately 400 to 500 words each Friday. So just as the name suggests - each Friday a new story for you.
And finally, the 'Random Bloggy Stuff' is reserved for the Sundays of the year. I'll use that as a place to ... well... express all the random bloggy stuff I feel I want to publish.
(On a side note: the Kittens will not be affected by the schedule - they'll just be put online whenever I feel like it - just as before.)
This should give an idea of what I'm planing. Currently I still have a head start concerning the flash fiction, so that part shouldn't give me any troubles getting this all started and in gear.
There you have it, my first 'Short-Update-Madness' in the new format, this time mainly focused on the blog itself. Concerning the stuff I'm working on... 'Loner's Peak' is going strong, with all the re-editing and rewriting as I go through stuff written a few days ago. Still I'm only barely half-way through it (yeah that's how much time I wasted already... at least it feels that way for me... darn it... I probably need a deadline as I currently don't have one).
I also got a single page for the first chapter of 'Nightingale' done on an evening I just couldn't really come to a rest. And why not directly write it down? For safe-keeping or whatever...
I still do not plan on working on those two projects simultaneously though - and I really need to get 'Loner's Peak' done.
That should be all for just now.
As always thanks for reading!

A night (with)out (all the dreamy-weamy stuff)
Five days and roughly 10,000 to 11,000 words later I can say without feeling too lazy: 'Loner's Peak' is growing nicely. And I don't see this stopping anytime soon.
As the plot of the story develops ... and I end up with another night of insomnia, my head starts running off into different other directions, successfully keeping me from focusing too much onto one story, which is - in fact - a good thing.
I came up with a few lines for stories following up after the 'trilogy'. It's a shame I still don't have a name for them as a whole, but yeah... sooner or later I'll find one I like. It's only a matter of time.
But we can't just leave it all behind every time like this guy did last night, can we?

But I guess this is a somewhat different and... well, more difficult case all in all when compared with the pathetic little insomniac streaks I sometimes have.
Something totally different: Now that the story progresses like this, it will be harder to find excerpts to post without including too many spoilers. I'll be trying to prevent this kind of "over-sharing" as good as possible, but still give a short peak onto the story from time to time.
Related to that I'm currently looking into getting a schedule started, trying to get this site here a little bit more organized and stuff, ya know? So look forward to that. My beloved 'short-update-madness' will definitely be a part of it.
But that's once again all for just now.
As always thanks for reading.

Shirley also was there later on. Had her usual shift with the usual people sitting at her bar.
She didn’t look quite as happy to see me at first, but as normally she opened up as the evening progressed. Even did her usual show after getting an over-the-edge tip from someone, raising the top. Sure gets people fired up, buying more, giving even larger tips... She knows she’ll get none from me though. And she stopped tryin’ on that a long while ago.
I don’t have the money... [..]

Apologies
Well yeah...
Over the last few days I felt like I have to apologize to the people reading this blog of mine for the enormous amount of (little and stupid) mistakes I made in the original upload of the 'excerpt' I offered in the last post. (That's the part when being an acoustic-type really screws you over...)
Hopefully it should be all sorted out by now.
As I said two times, the whole thing was initially taken from a rough draft I had made earlier - which had been polished up a bit - at least I said that... and I actually did, but yeah... I still did not get the mistakes...
Shows me I should be re-re-re-reading everything I want to post.
Nevertheless it just shouldn't have happened in the first place. I really really felt stupid for a lot of the stuff.
And please believe me, this was an exceptional case of personal rubbish-ness and non-thinking on my part.
It will not happen again.
I hope you will accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience caused and I hope I did not scare you away ...
Unfortunately I don't have too much that I can offer to you right now, as I'm trying to make up for my latest mistake. But maybe I a continuation of the last excerpt will be okay? As the first step or so...

There you go, I hope this is sufficient enough for a first down-payment after my slip up(s) last time.
Nevertheless I hope you enjoyed reading my stuff today - I promise to try and avoid such mistakes like last time.
As always, thanks for reading.
Marc, admitting mistakes.
P.S.: Still searching for a suitable kitteh.

“Ah, yes... I didn’t mean to offend you by any means, but as you can probably guess my schedule is rather ... busy ... from time to time. So unfortunately I can’t always memorize all the names I come across from day to day.”
He chooses his words and the pace in which he speaks wisely, not being too slow or too hastily either whilst still making his way over towards his desk. Quickly he reached the middle of the room and goes on further to go straight passed me without even offering a handshake or whatsoever as a greeting.
Sure got a stick up his ass...
“So Mister... Mortinson. What paper did you work for? Please go ahead... remind me.” his words are somewhat pushing, but not over-exaggerative as he still is on his way, leaving me now only with the back of his head in my direct view, showing off the greasy looking black hair combed back and tucked tightly to his skull.
“BioGEN” I reply without too much hesitation. “It’s still a small magazine which came up only recently. Forgive me being nervous, it’s their first job I’m on for them.” For a moment or two it actually sounds like I know what I’m talking ‘bout. But still...,
‘A small magazine which came up only recently’? Damn... the cover story’s so bad it hurts... It takes a cop to come up with something as lousy as this...
Jameston’s finally at his desk, looking over it for a second or two then turning towards me again, leaning on to it. His eyes are rather small, but strictly focused on me. The other features of his face are strong, somewhat really reminding me of a lion, missing only the mane. As an addition to that he has a black mustache, neatly trimmed.
“If that is the case then ... you are quite the lucky one being here right now, you know? Especially after being this late to an appointment... Other journalists spend a life-time trying to get to see me for fifteen minutes and still don’t manage...”
Damn it... he’s seeing through already... I’d hoped it would have taken at least a few minutes longer.
“But... I would also be lying if I’d tell you that you are the first rookie standing here in front of me. Still... you are a rather old rookie, if you don’t mind me being this frank right away.” He adds whilst grinning brightly at me, displaying a few of his pure white teeth. A sleazy, treacherous kind of smile.
I can already tell... He’s playing with me.
“I’m on it part-time. Everybody needs a little money on the side, don’t they?” I reply forcing a light smile, though probably nobody would be able to tell that I’m smiling. I try to lighten the situation up a bit, hoping it would take his mind off the obvious flaws my cover has.
Taking me by surprise Jameston lets out a short burst of laughter before he continues. “YES, THEY DO!” [..]

also: Tables ... yay

[..]
I’m still treading on the red carpet from outside the room. It’s leading directly towards a large desk at the far side of this place. Looks like it’s made of ebony... Should that be really the case, that fucking table’s worth a fortune all by itself...

A lion and a wolf in disguise!
Well hello there boys and girls. I'm glad that you all managed to be here today, or tomorrow... or maybe even yesterday already.
Let me tell you a tale full of wonder and excitement, but without actual content! So now gaze upon my prized possession ... my sacred wonder, clouded by a veil of secrecy... just... a ... moment. .. um... where did I put it?
Seems it got lost on the way. What way? Oh... uh... I forgot?
But I guess that's enough pointless rambling for one session, wouldn't you agree?
I had a bit of 'trouble' with the Blizzard Activision Community team during the last days, which pretty much took a lot of my time (and to be honest mostly my nerves) as a toll as I was trying to enter my story into their annual writing contest.
Everything looked fine first, you just have to accept the rules of said competition (which are kinda... yeah... no comment), fill in a web form, upload the document containing the text and you're off... at least that's the theory behind it all.
Shortly afterwards you receive an e-mail as a confirmation with the data you sent them. And that's were the fun started. Somethings not right... and now it's up to you to get in contact with Blizz if you don't want to get disqualified for giving false or incomplete information about yourself and/or the story.
Let's just say, it wasn't as easy as you'd hope for it to be, unfortunately above that the problem has not yet been resolved. So I'm currently waiting on yet another email from Blizzard - this time from the US department - which will hopefully clear everything up ...
(On a side note - the whole contest thing is reason for me removing the 'preview'-parts from one of my earlier blog posts.)
For a bit more recent stuff - here is a short excerpt from 'Loner's Peak', although it is still merely a draft:
There you go, as I said it's just a short excerpt of whats currently going on in the story. I polished it a bit more whilst I was copying it onto here.
Edit(1): Sorry for all the random little mistakes that were(are?) in the excerpt - as I said it's just an draft from one of my notebooks and I was polishing it up a bit for the story. Basically I took it from a bunch of scrap-work without thinking too much about it. I'm sorting it all out at the moment.
Edit (2): Hopefully all sorted out now... Joke's on me... Sorry once again for the inconvenience caused.
Also the search for the Sleeptalking book cover continues! harhar! or rather... boohoo....
But that's all for just now, thanks for reading and heave a great day,
Marc, the flammable.
P.S.: Heeere kitteh, kitteh.... here kitteh

The doors somewhere behind me open, breaking up my stray thoughts.
Richard Jameston enters the room with quick, strong steps, displaying the strength and pride one would expect from him as the 'Lion of L.A.' although his black suit gives him more the appearance of a panther hunting its prey from the shadows.
Everything on him is matched perfectly in the same color scheme I noticed before, black suit, red tie and golden cufflinks gleaming over towards me.
"Good day, Mister...?" he casually asks me from across the room without ever giving up his point of superiority as he comes closer. His voice is strong and clear, fitting perfectly for the archetype of a leader.
He barely looks any older than maybe 30, but the intel I got tells me he's heading straight for his 40's in the next two years.
"Mortinson", I reply cold, not too bothered about my cover. It'd be pointless hiding my name anyways.

Finally, honey-toasted pizza!... Wait..., what?!?
Here I go on again blabbering about...
If I'm totally honest there isn't that much to talk about today, although there are a few things that have been going on lately.
First of all, I finally got back into my lil' fitness routine again. It's been a while since the last time I did the workouts from BodyRock.tv ... and wow... my arms and legs are sore already.. BUT .. I feel great otherwise! And I just love the phase of complete exhaustion directly after the workout followed by an incredible boost of energy! Makes me question myself why I stopped doing them in the first place.
Oh guilty conscience you so... uh yeah... probably right...
I also finally got my hands on a great board game by the simple name of 'Zombies!!!' ... yeah, following the personal hype of mine that I'm cultivating the moment. It's by the utterly great people of TwilightCreationsInc.
(luckily not THAT twilight... but I'll hold back and won't comment on that 'franchise' just yet)
It's a rather simple game with really fluent game-play where you build a city from randomly drawn tiles turn by turn and try to escape the zombie infested city via helicopter in the end.
I'd say give it a try, if you're into such kind of games (and zombies in that case ofc).
And... I FINALLY got back into 'Loner's Peak'... yeah I've been writing actual stuff for the story. Not that I'd been all lazy and didn't care for it anymore... I filled a good few pages in my notebooks with stuff for the story and the following two parts over the course of the past weeks.
And still I won't be able to concentrate on it 'full-time' just yet - there is still too many things that need sorting out along the side.
(I really need some help... too many things, too many ideas... sheesh. And just to keep you from worrying too much - I'm still confident that I'll manage to sort it all out quite nicely at some point.)
I wrote five (short-short) pieces of flash-fiction during the last week for example.
They might not be that long (roughly 500 words a piece) but coming up with a good idea for one also isn't too easy. Most things I come up with would be a better fit for longer stuff with maybe 5.000 words.
But yeah, five are already done - I'll start working on number six as soon as I'm done with this post right here - which means only six more to go. Yep, you read it right. Six more to come. The goal is to get twelve little stories done.
Why I'm doing stuff like that when I could be getting on with a story that needs to be finished, which I promised to people online that I don't know personally a few times already?
Well... that's a good question indeed. To put it simple: I have a plan with them, they'll all find use eventually.
And finally another 'finally'! Yesterday I found a real nice letter inside my mailbox downstairs. It's from a good friend of mine from back in the days. (His name's Benjamin. I'll refer to him like that on here - don't confuse him with Beni though! The plush bear might get angry.)
He is a really gifted artist, who decided to study law.
Yep...
But back to topic. He finished a great drawing for my other story, 'Sleeptalking' in the style of a copper engraving (or etching - whatever word you want to use for it, English-German translations aren't very clear on that, seen dozens of different variations on what is supposed to be right). The only thing I'm not totally sure about is how to use it most effectively, because I think it is a bit too bright for the outside-cover of the book as such. So I face a bit of thinking that has to be done in that regard.
I might put it up onto site at some point, but not yet .. that would be too sooooooon.
And just for your delight, a new excerpt only for you!
Sheesh all that bloggy stuff today. But yeah... those were my four 'finally's' of the day.
As always thanks for reading and have a great day,
Marc, finally the final finally
P.S.: New Kitteh already up.
P.P.S.: Some day you'll might have the pleasure to read the story about Camilla the butterfly and Bertha the bumblebee... if you're nice enough to deserve such a treatment!

“MITCH! MOVE YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” he yells at me.
Why on earth... couldn’t he have told me whatever it is when he was still sitting next to me? With a sigh I make my way over to the partition’s door dividing the place into a large open spac and one smaller room.
“One more thing.” he says looking at me while sitting in his chair leaning back.
“What is it Barry...?” my impatience is flowing through the words I speak.
“Did I ever tell you the story of the little swallow searching for its place in life?”
This question hits me right out of the blue. I’ve got no idea on how to respond to it properly.
“Uh... No?” I stammer after a short while.
“It didn’t fucking care! THE END! Now get out of my freakin’ warehouse and DO YOUR GODDAMN JOB!”
Yeah I know... I already used the thing with the swallow on this page before. But I wanted to show you how it looks like implemented into the actual story.

The off-limits of a text
Well... I have to admit, the header sounds a bit rant-y-er than I wanted for it to be, but meh... It's just a play on words... which probably doesn't make that much sense but yeah.
And still the text I wanted to talk about is somewhat off-limits, because it's for another writing contest - and as my often so underestimated common sense tells me - I shouldn't be posting too much of something like this on the interwebz beforehand.
And still I just can't hold it back completely... argh...
There you go ... as long as I still have the right to do so (frikken contest rules)... a short extract of the short I've been working on during the past few days...
(It might not be for those faint of heart)
***
Edited as of September 20th: Nothing to be seen here anymore unfortunately - text entered the competition, therefore the excerpt had to be removed for the time being.
***
It's not done yet, but it's growing quite nicely. So it should only take a few more days before I'm finished.
Now after having distracted you once again let us move on to something different. I slightly updated the page for Loner's Peak, offering links to published posts containing background on the story as well as straightening out a few other minor things that weren't up to date.
Can you believe it? That's already all for today... let's call it another short-update-madness...
As always, thanks for reading

P.S.: No P.S. today.

Edited as of September 20th: Nothing to be seen here anymore unfortunately - text entered the competition, therefore the excerpt had to be removed for the time being.

The Jameston Bunch
"Here's the story, of a..."
Oh no! Oh my god no!...
Actually it's kind of funny how I can't concentrate on writing stuff when that tune is playing in the background... yeah I've got THAT song running right now.
Let me just turn it off again ...
So... What I actually wanted to say was something about the Jameston family. I said a few days earlier that I wanted to post a few things about Richard Jameston, his father and grandfather... and here ya go.
Benjamin Jameston
The man, the myth, the legend...
Little is still known about Richard's grandfather, except that it was him who founded the Jameston Company in order to capitalize on the wars the US got involved with.
He was also the one who initially started investing large amounts of money into scientific research in order to develope new technologies with the goal to enhance and improve life on earth and mankind itself. Under his management JSD got involved with research on hive-minds such as the one of bees.
It is rumored that Benjamind Jameston died during the early 1950's, but this has never been verified by the family.
(See here for all the parts of the Company and their abbreviations)
Henry & Margaret Jameston
Probably the most powerful couple of the US...
Henry's and Margaret's marriage had been arranged when she was only 4 years old. This union proved to be a troublesome one many many times, nevertheless they developed a strange kind of affection for each other over the years.
Henry is the only son to Benjamin Jameston and thus the heir of the Jameston Company. He was born in 1931 and died at the age of 35 in 1966 due to a complication with an experiment conducted on himself.
He took over a leading role within the company shortly after World War II, once his father thought of him as 'ready'. It was due to Henry's influence that the Company started to push away more and more from solely military tech and instead used it as a foundation for new things:
Security (filter technology) as well as genetics (JG) and "bionics" (JB) as Henry used to call it.
Genetic as well as bio-mechanical engineering soon became an obsession of his, which finally lead towards his demise.
His views of mankind quickly deteriorated once he was sole owner of the Jameston Company. He started to view mankind as flawed and wanted to 'enhance' human beings with his technology so these 'flaws' would disappear from the face of the planet.
Due to his own effort of becoming the first 'enhanced human being' he decided to replace his own weak heart with a mechanical one. Unfortunately his own technology wasn't ready yet...
Henry left behind a son - Richard - as well as his wife Margaret. After Henry's death Richard was supposed to take the seat of CEO in the company, yet he was only 2 years old at that time. A 'replacement' was installed until Richard would be old enough to take his turn on leading the family venture. It was Margaret who looked after Calvin Hobbes who had taken on said position for the time being, so he would run the Company in favour of Henry's will.
It is widely rumored that she was the one who founded JVC originally in 1963.
The whereabouts of Margaret Jameston are currently unknown and kept away from the public.
Richard Jameston
The Lion of LA
Richard Jameston was born in 1964 and is currently 38 years old. He is also the current head of the Jameston Family.
He took the seat as CEO of the company at the age of 25 after a long and thorough education by his mother and various elitist schools. Aside to his studies he already worked in the company since the age of 18 before he took the leading position. During this time he also introduced a new logo - a lion's head - for the brand "Jameston", thus earning him his later nickname together with his fierce and keen way of managing the enterprise.
In contrast to his father and grandfather he is more a businessman than a scientist or military activist, yet still he follows in the footsteps of the legendary Henry Jameston as he invests high amounts of money from the company into JB and JG.
A black cat named Alecious is his prized possession.
There you have it - even more background.
I might tell you a few more things about Alecious in the future - but for now I'll leave it at that. (And believe me, he's quite a special little fella.)
As always thanks for reading,
Marc, the Hyped-Up
P.S.: I meant this song here... or rather all of them. Enjoy and kudos to the show... I think it's kinda funny whilst it actually isn't. Old television was the best, wasn't it?

Aftermathing it up
First off, before I get to the things I actually wanted to write about - as you can probably tell from the little box on the right side of this page, Sir Beni James Honeypaw of MacLeod now has his own little profile on Blogger.com and has already received all necessary clearance to be able to post his own stuff on this blog.
It highly depends whether one views this as an improvement or not... just, well, be nice to him... okay? ... At least a little bit. He has a hard enough time living with me...
Now... I had another look at my own blog post from last Sunday and I realized how little info on 'Loner's Peak' I had actually put up on this site so far. Sorry about all that.
So a lot of my ramblings might seem like strange and not very sensible (got my first negative rating on webook telling me exactly that not too long ago). But fear not! It all ties up quite nicely overall.
The prologue as such, as you can read it over yonder, gives quite a good idea of setting for the story, still most of the stuff is not addressed directly before chapter 2.
To give you the general idea and make it easier to understand the whole stuff about the Jameston Company from a few days ago - in a nutshell:
The plot of the story is set in 2003 A.D. - or 40 A.A. how the year is also know to a group of religious fanatics. Mankind is wasting away in the larger cities, hiding behind thick clouds of industrial smog which is solely produced as a frail and volatile means of survival.
The atmosphere of the Earth is contaminated by sulfuric acids ever since the 1960's. Nobody knows (or wants to know) what triggered this change of the planet or has any real explanation for this shifting towards a kind of Venus-like atmosphere.
The flora and fauna of the Earth has been reduced to almost nothingness, most kinds of animals and plants are already extinct, as nothing outside of large areas covered in smog is able to withstand the highly concentrated corrosive acid rain. And even for man the means of survival run thin.
The last lifestring they - we - are attached to is the technology provided by the large Ventilation Companies which are scattered across the Earth making profit from the planets suffering by offering the simple bargain: those able to pay survive. And one of said Ventilation Companies is the Jameston Ventilation Corp (short: JVC) which I tried to showcase a few days ago.
There you go - everything kept short - for more details stay tuned. I'm sure I'll give away a few more things now and then... next up on the to do list would be a look into the family history of the Jamestons in a few days or so.
That would be all for right now.
As always, thanks for reading.

P.S.: New pseudo-kitteh coming up soon
P.P.S.: BLEUGH!

Oh don't mind me...
... just pushing my bed around.
Yeah, pushing a bed and various other pieces of furniture around, emptying and refilling shelves and as well as a few stray drawers (though not that many all in all) and finally getting all my stuff out of my bags and back into the built-in closet of my apartment. Together with cleaning up everything, that was quite a day till now.
Redecorating is kind of fun admittedly, though the whole 'pushing the bed around'-part not so much. (and it was a bit too heavy to lift it alone.. while Beni wouldn't help at all... just as usual; always only concerned about honey)
And it's increadible how different things can look after just a few changes.
So yeah - except for that I was able to "retrieve" my mail from the last month today and I can finally feel at home again.
But enough of me babbling about such things... on the trip back to Bremen I had a lot of time to flesh out the notes I made for 'Loner's Peak' some more.
Also - I still intend to post the timeline I came up as a background for the story... just not today... I'd still like to get a bit more of the actual story done, before posting about the background of it all.
Yet what I probably could offer... is a bit more insight into the 'Jameston Company' or JVC - the 'Jameston Ventilation Corp' as it is called at the current time of the story. (40 A.A. / 2003 A.D.)
*~*
JVC is a top-notch company for ventilation systems in the US and the leading power in modern LA, securing survival for the west coast (for everybody who can afford their next to flawless vent-systems) as well as secretly pushing even further into different areas of science with their technology.
The Jameston Company was originally founded 1921 by Benjamin Jameston as a military company by the name of 'Jameston Military' (JM), originally only producing weapons and ammunition for the US troupes. Shortly after the creation of JM, Benjamin Jameston decided to devote some of the corp's resources to science itself and formed an extra department by the name of the 'Jameston Science Department' (JSD) in 1924. (This would become the rise and the downfall of Benjamin's only son Henry, who joined the family business as soon as he was old enough in the eyes of his father - around 1947/48).
The JSD soon developed own departments - e.g. Jameston Bionics (JB) in 1949 with the goal to create mechanized body parts to improve living beings. This was solely due to the obsession of Henry Jameston and his craze to be able to create flawless human beings. Yet the first major breakthrough was not until 1985 in a coop with Jameston Genetics (JG - founded 1955 with similar goals to JB), when these two departments created the first living being out of nothing which was also able to survive in the sulphuric atmosphere that had taken hold of the earth since the 1960's.
Additionally this was somewhat ground-breaking as most parts of the Earths biota were supposed to be extinct at that time.
(Henry Jameston died 1966 as he conducted an experiment on himself - he longed to become the first "enhanced" human being - unfortunately the mechanical heart he wanted to have implanted did not live up to his expectations. Henry died 1 1/2 years after his son Richard had been born.)
Due to the events during the Cold War and the sudden rise of corrosive chemicals in the atmosphere the Jameston Company decided to devote parts of its military technology (various types of air filters for defensive means) to the public and create the Jameston Ventilation Corp. (JVC) in 1963.
JVC grew quickly as their ventilation systems soon became mandatory for survival. As the vent corps became more and more important and the more useless weapons became (they simply eroded away) JM decided to redirect most of its technology - therefore Jameston Ventilation Corp Security (JVCS) was created in 1965.
Currently the Jameston Company, mainly JVC is lead by Henry's only son Richard Jameston, who acquired the nickname "Lion of LA" early on in his career. He took the seat of his father in 1989 after being thoroughly educated.
*~*
There you go... I admit it might be quite a lot and sound a tad confusing at first but'll clear up. (at least I'd expect something on the lines of that - it's not that easy to turn my notes into a small text like that... at least not for me... Then again those up there are only scrapes of the things that I have here next to me. I'm just bad at making it short...)
I might go a bit into detail on the actual Jameston family later this week.
And it's all just the tip of the iceberg.
Thanks as always for reading, I hope you enjoyed the short peek at the Jameston Company.

Back and already away again
Sheesh... what a trip...
So... to get the whole blog-part out of the way - first a few nice and good (personal) news for a start-up:
I'm back from the Wacken Open Air 2011 and it was a blast, just as we all had hoped for (although the planing ahead of it was kinda screwed up). Everybody had a great time, you got to know a whole lot of new people, listened to good live music and *cough* got a little bit drunk *cough* ... so yeah .. the usual
Now the not so good parts amongst the recent events:
My cat decided to ALMOST starve herself to death at home in Saxony - so I'm not quite in Bremen at the moment, and just a little bit further south (460 km ~ 286 miles).
Which also means that yesterday was kinda rushed all the way... we packed our stuff and tents, got to Itzehoe (20 km ~ 12,5 miles) to catch our train from there to Bremen (160 km ~ 100 miles).
We started rather early, got out and on our way just before the first bigger wave of people leaving that morning and reached Bremen round about 11:15 am. All of us were really tired (last night has been really short, not only due to heavy rainfalls drumming against the outside of the tent) YET shortly after getting home I received the call from (my 2nd) home informing me about the current (dire) situation... a descicion had to be made quickly and off we were towards Saxony.
A booming 4 hours later we reached my old home and were welcomed by a walking skeleton which used to be my cat... She looked terrible, the poor thing (and I felt terrible seeing her in such a state...) My grand-ma told us the whole story how she started to eat less and less up till the end when it was barely anything, and how she called the vet in for additional help
BUT ...
the good news in the end... as soon as me and my mom/mum/ma (whatever you would fancy calling my mother) came home to her she started purring again, happily miew-ing about the house and - best of all - eating again... still not too much (not like before we started our trip) but that's something that has to get back to normal slowly bit by bit.
And right now, she's sleeping next to me, sometimes raising her head over to me with a happy (and astonishingly healthy) purr along to it.
So... now that that's out of the way ... back to business... or something like that...
I'll be heading back to Bremen during the course of the week, where I will take up my virtual pen once again.
If everything goes well (which hardly ever happens) I should be able to make quite a bit of progress on 'Loner's Peak' till the end of August, which would allow me to start fooling around with more stuff for the following parts that currently go by the working titles 'Fool's Flight' and 'Savior's Haven' ,as well as some other stuff that I currently call 'Nightingale' and 'The Bamboo Labyrith' (not that one in Alnwick Garden btw).
So... I'd better stop for now, there's my cat coming over to me, probably aiming for my lap, looking for a bit more attention from me. Judging from her body... you could probably call her Victoria Beckham at the moment...
There you go - as always thanks for reading,
Marc, keeper of the cat

P.P.S.: Real Kitty just got up again and is happily eating away on her food. =^.^=
