[RBSITMOTN] - Happy New Year

The title says it all (more or less):

Happy 2012!

The year of 2011 is now part of the past and a completely fresh one is already lying ahead of us, waiting for the people of this world to make good use of it.
(Let's just skip the fact that its not 2012 for all religions and beliefs out there - though I know that the 23rd of January is Chinese New Year and it's gonna be year of the dragon - so hell yeah! going to be a good one!)

Anyways I wish all of you best of luck and health for 2012. Keep up with your New Year's resolutions and don't let them slip right away.

I got a couple of things planned for myself too and I'll be trying my hardest to be as strict with myself as possible.

Getting back into the diet plan and work-outs being probably the most important ones. But also something of similar importance, so it shouldn't be forgotten - though it might sound a bit comical or at least straight up silly at first - trying to be more like Beni.
And I'm not talking about the being all dusty and/or furry part. ... Nope... not about being a bear either.
Don't worry too much... I still know what I'm talking about.

In any case... my motto for this year will be "do or die".
Sounds harsh, but at least it's effective. And yet again: "nope" - I'm not suicidal.
Though I guess at least a few people will try to correct me into something like "it's 2012 - we're all gonna die anyways on the 21st of December". To those people I will probably say: "don't believe all the stuff the crazy old men on the TV try to talk you into (even if the talk about the Maya)" - or think about it differently... we're all going to die at some point - I'd just rather have the do-part of it now and the dying bit a good couple of years later. Sounds good and convincing? Yeah, to me too.

Enjoy the New Year, have a great one everybody and expect lots of exciting updates on the site starting off next Tuesday. Greetings from Germany and as always, thanks for reading.
Marc, not as fluffy as his plush-bear (-1 to the Beni-o-meter)

P.S.: I think I got a new kitteh I could share with you somewhere around here.

[ST] - Butterflies and Bumblebees

A perfect headline for a day in November... when all the little insects are outside on their way from flower to flower and... oh... uhm... never mind.

I'm not done with the whole Bamboo thingy yet, as I've yet againg got overwhelmed by my own personal longings to get Loner's Peak done and started the second phase of editing a bit sooner than originally planned. So during the last two days I've been occupied with trying to smooth out some of the rougher edges that the story still had. And I'm quite confident that it won't be before too long that the storyline of Jonathan Mortinson is done, so I can move on to the parts of Thomas Mitchell. In any case you could just say I've been doing stuff.

For today, the flash fiction I want to present to you is a bit... awkward. It's somewhat of a stylized story for children with a save-the-environment background to it. I mentioned it aaaages ago on the site and I think the only thing I actually said about it was that Beni had approved of it.
Just don't take it too seriously.
Anyways, enjoy!

Well hello there! How nice of you to join us.
Who I mean with "us" you want to know? Well, can’t you see her? Oh yes I know, she is a bit tiny, but please do not tell I said that about her. Look! She is right over here, my good friend Camilla, the beautiful butterfly.
She really is enjoying this lovely day to the fullest. She has been outside playfully flying around ever since the sun came up! She really had a lot of fun today!
I hope she didn’t fly too fast. That really must have been exhausting!
So Camilla has to sit down for short moment. How about over there, on that small flower? Oh do not be silly, she is not that heavy. She is merely a small butterfly after all!
It has been a really warm day until now. The sun has been happily shining brightly down from the sky with a wide smile on her yellow face.
Oh! Who is that behind that flower over there! Ah! It is Bertha, the bumblebee! How good to see you too! She is a good friend of Camilla and I guess she is also happy to see her butterfly friend too.
But poor little Bertha does not have as much luck as Camilla has. She had to work all day long. She was collecting nectar from the colourful flowers all around us on the lush meadow. So Bertha must also have had a really exhausting day too! But she is not only tired it seems! What is wrong Bertha? Why do you look so sad?
‘Oh’ the cute little bumblebee says in a low voice, ‘I am sad because of my home meadow. It is all gone! It simply vanished this morning just after I got up.’
'How mean! What had happened Bertha?' Camilla also wants to know why her friend is so sad. So that maybe we can cheer her up again!
‘They are building a new motorway over there! But it was such nice meadow. All my neighbours were so friendly. Emma the Mouse, Charlie the mole and even my distant cousin Edna the wasp from the nearest forest, they all had to suddenly move away this morning! And all this happened just because those humans wanted to build another one of their noisy and dirty roads. I don’t think they needed any more, if you ask me, but I’m just a tiny bumblebee without a car. I’m just happy you did not have to move away too, Camilla!’
Camilla sees how sad Bertha looks down to the ground. 'Humans sure are mean sometimes! But you can stay with me, if you want to!’ Camilla says quickly. And you can already see how small Bertha is already lightening up a bit again.
‘It’s maybe not as great as your old home, but I’m sure we will have lots of fun!’
But unfortunately this all the time we got here on the meadow. I'm afraid we have to leave those two already. I'm sure they will be fine!
Bye now Camilla! Bye Bertha!

Another week down, another week closer to Christmas.
As for next Friday - just as announced: I'll put the first installment of The Bamboo Labyrinth up on to the site. And I'll be giving you a few more details on the whole topic in the said post as well, how it'll all work etc pp. So you get a better idea of what I'm planning.

I think I shall leave it at that for now and get back to editing. The sooner it's done, the sooner it's over with. Writing the story and coming up with it in general is a lot of fun if you ask me - but the other parts are a bit tedious from time to time.

Anyways... as always thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this weeks piece of flash-fiction I threw at you.
Marc, the one who's pretty much high on energy drinks and caffeine right now.. weeeeeeee

P.S.: I'll see what I can do to get a new kitteh up.
P.P.S.: Kitteh upz.

Seemingly unrelated songquote of the day:
"If we don't kill ourselves we'll be the leaders of a messed up generation. If we don't kid ourselves, will they believe us the reasons when we tell them why?"

Sep 1, 2011

Oh wow...

So it's September already... my my... time flies by indeed. But isn't this one of the many things that makes life so sweet? Knowing that you only have one and that it passes by. The flow of time... as much a blessing as it is a curse.

But enough of my pointless ramblings, not that anything I say actually has a meaning to it, or does it?

I finally gave in to buying Minecraft... yes... consider me one of the addicted. I've spent my free-time of the past two day with building some basic stuff, only to burn it down again soon after, still in search for the perfect world to settle down.
(For the extra thrill -> Winnie the Pooh skin and Beni sitting next to the laptop... oh, I'm such a child...)

Story-wise - I started working on the Short stories and texts that I'm writing for the textbook. I brought the first one onto (virtual) paper, started toying around with various others and got down to making a rough grid for all twelve of them.
Concerning my fiction I'm starting to get entangled in the many ideas I have - I seriously need somebody to help me write all of those books stored in my head - but that would be cheating, wouldn't it?
I even had another idea - yes even more to write down. It's getting a bit out of hand and I'm still not at the point where I would give in to cutting on any of them. Though this 'idea' I got there is somewhat of a neck-breaker. Yeah... admittedly it seems to be a bit overkill - despite it being nothing too fancy when you think about it a bit more in depth. But for you guys (and garrrls) out there I'll leave you with just a hunch for now - Kaleidoscope.
Anyhow - expect any work on this project in maybe... a year or two? If I decide on starting to work on it as early as this. First of all I need to get finished with 'Loner's Peak' and the two other parts following its storyline. And after that next in line would be 'Nightingale', at least if I don't decide on changing that.
Yet I'll stop whining about getting nothing done for now - it's not that easy all that studying, part-time-jobbing, writing and living the life of a 'pseudo-normal' student with all his social liabilities ... if you get my drift. But what better point in time to start changing some of the old ways and habits in my life than now?
Especially as my birthday is coming rushing towards me.

Nevertheless I'd feel better if I had some new excerpts to show you, but in all honesty, there is none this time (that I really wanted to show off..., that is). But I'll promise you, the next time I'll post on this here blog of mine, I'll have something new and shiny for you to read.

Btw: Ouch! ... burnt my right hand on the inside of the oven yesterday ... kinda hurts (and looks... well let's not talk about that...)

That's all for now - as always thanks for reading, and have a great day / week.
Marc, the... block-y

P.S.: New Kitteh coming soon
P.P.S.: New Kitteh up and online... A "Get-Well-Kitty"-Picture of my own, still sick kitty. Why did you do something so stupid, sweetheart?
P.P.P.S.: The "Get-Well-Kitty"-Picture seemingly did not have any positive effect... it will be re-captioned.

Aftermathing it up

First off, before I get to the things I actually wanted to write about - as you can probably tell from the little box on the right side of this page, Sir Beni James Honeypaw of MacLeod now has his own little profile on Blogger.com and has already received all necessary clearance to be able to post his own stuff on this blog.
It highly depends whether one views this as an improvement or not... just, well, be nice to him... okay? ... At least a little bit. He has a hard enough time living with me...

Now... I had another look at my own blog post from last Sunday and I realized how little info on 'Loner's Peak' I had actually put up on this site so far. Sorry about all that.
So a lot of my ramblings might seem like strange and not very sensible (got my first negative rating on webook telling me exactly that not too long ago). But fear not! It all ties up quite nicely overall.
The prologue as such, as you can read it over yonder, gives quite a good idea of setting for the story, still most of the stuff is not addressed directly before chapter 2.

To give you the general idea and make it easier to understand the whole stuff about the Jameston Company from a few days ago - in a nutshell:
The plot of the story is set in 2003 A.D. - or 40 A.A. how the year is also know to a group of religious fanatics. Mankind is wasting away in the larger cities, hiding behind thick clouds of industrial smog which is solely produced as a frail and volatile means of survival.
The atmosphere of the Earth is contaminated by sulfuric acids ever since the 1960's. Nobody knows (or wants to know) what triggered this change of the planet or has any real explanation for this shifting towards a kind of Venus-like atmosphere.
The flora and fauna of the Earth has been reduced to almost nothingness, most kinds of animals and plants are already extinct, as nothing outside of large areas covered in smog is able to withstand the highly concentrated corrosive acid rain. And even for man the means of survival run thin.
The last lifestring they - we - are attached to is the technology provided by the large Ventilation Companies which are scattered across the Earth making profit from the planets suffering by offering the simple bargain: those able to pay survive. And one of said Ventilation Companies is the Jameston Ventilation Corp (short: JVC) which I tried to showcase a few days ago.

There you go - everything kept short - for more details stay tuned. I'm sure I'll give away a few more things now and then... next up on the to do list would be a look into the family history of the Jamestons in a few days or so.

That would be all for right now.
As always, thanks for reading.
Marc, the now-suddenly-shorter-haired

P.S.: New pseudo-kitteh coming up soon
P.P.S.: BLEUGH!

Within sticky plushy claws....

... of DOOOOOOOM!
And possibly a modern-day form of slavery...

It's finally finished! For now at least ... Nevertheless... check out the page for Beni James Honeypaw (my plush-bear) over HERE. I guess he would appreciate it. And I am also instructed to tell you that he also accepts all kinds of donations in terms of honey - just no lavender honey, he's kinda allergic to that. (So you know what you have to do if you want to get rid of him!) I'm also force... err instructed to tell you that he prefers akacia honey above all else.
And I'm TOTALLY NOT held hostage here AT ALL... not at all... kay? (..I think he's watching me..)

On to other things, hopefully I'll get it done before he come's back checking on me.
Tomorrow's my seminar on marketing management and I'm completely stoked to get to know more about coffee and sweets marketing after finishing my 4-hour-assignement today... ... Yeah... ...
But to be fair, it actually is more interessting than you'd probably imagine. Except for the typically german way of teaching things... getting stuffed with terms that don't serve any practical use except for trying to strain and deter students - you are not using around 80% of them when it comes to actually working.
Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
Well... no use complaining about it.

Except for my thrilling studies, my hands are itching to get back into working on Loner's Peak, especially after one of my friends showed me *this* snazzy little article. Except for it's - of course - satirical nature, it's just so frikken true that it's sad. I had a good laugh nonetheless. I've got so many great things in store for the story!
Unfortunately that whole itching-part isn't only on a metaphoric note. My right hand's actually going somewhat bonkers and stuff. My blood flow is going batshit crazy from time to time, but only in my right hand.
I have to admit it sounds worse than it actually is. It's a possible side-condition of your typical everyday migraine after all. What it also does? It tells me I'm getting old ... ... D:
Currently (especially as the weather conditions in Germany are terribly unconsitent this year) more and more of the usual side-effects - that I haven't experienced so far - are acting up - making my day just a tad more exciting then elsewise.

I guess that should be all for today. I hoped you enjoyed last times look into music at least a little bit, if at all. I had to do it. A kind of craze of me. But for now I'll get back to marketing once again ... still a few things left to do.

As always, thanks for reading.
Ia! Beni!

P.S.: ... let's see what I'll come up with for a new kitteh...
